Within Excellence Cluster 264 "Topoi - The Formation and Transformation of Space and Knowledge in Ancient Civilizations", which has been set up in the framework of the Excellence Initiative at the Freie Universität Berlin and the Humboldt-Universität Berlin,
6 doctoral grants are being offered in the following subject areas:
Early Modern English Literature and Culture

Philosophy

Philosophy / History of Science / Classics
(Ref. no. DS/D-II/01/08 and DS/DI/01/08)
The support is to begin on 1 October 2008. Closing date: 5 September 2008.
The support for the doctoral students for all grants lasts up to three years (two plus one). The prerequisite is an outstanding university degree in one of the fields mentioned above.
Information on the proposed projects, the profile expected of applicants, the amount of the grant and the supervising research groups can be found on the internet (www.topoi.org).
Along with the customary application documents (cv, grade transcripts, two letters of recommendation), an outline of the intended research is expected that is oriented toward the proposed projects.
